Call for application of 2020 APFNet Master’s
Degree Scholarship Program

Launched in 2010 under the APFNet’s Capacity Building Framework, the APFNet Scholarship Program (ASP) supports qualified students in completing a Master’s degree related to Sustainable Forest Management and rehabilitation. So far APFNet has cooperated with Beijing Forestry University (BFU) and Nanjing Forestry University (NFU) as the two host universities targeting APFNet developing member economies, Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (NWAFU) targeting both APFNet developing member economies and the Greater Central Asia (GCA) region.

Why apply for the program?

    · Well-known and highly experienced professional forestry faculty

    · Sponsorship of the tuition fees and expenses, which includes registration and tuition fees, one round-trip economy class flight tickets from the home economy of the awarded student to and from the city of the admitted university, accommodation on campus or alternative monthly allowance, monthly stipends to cover miscellaneous expenses and medical insurance during the enrollment period

    · Small class sizes, which provide high levels of student and teacher contact

    · Motivated and multi-national student cohort, which offers a diverse and stimulating learning environment

    · Field trips in China for students during 2 years, to give students an access to practical experience of knowledge on forestry resources status and management in China. Extra field practices will be provided by the host universities according to their resources and academic schedule

    · A chance to attend workshops, trainings and other activities on capacity building, forestry education and research and policy dialogue organized by APFNet, and connect with policy makers, academics, practitioners and international organizations, etc. in the Asia-Pacific region

    · Ample exposure for non-native students to the Chinese language and culture of China


Who can apply?

    · For BFU and NFU, applicants must be citizens from developing APFNet member economies including Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mexico, Fiji Islands, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, Peru, the Philippines and Viet Nam

    · For NWAFU, applicants must be citizens from developing APFNet member economies mentioned above or from the GCA region, specifically Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan

    · Age:18 - 40, and in good health condition

    · Have obtained a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree from an accredited higher education institute in forestry or related field

    · At least 2 years of work experience are prioritized

    · Proficiency in English (all the courses of this program will be taught in English)

    · Female applicants encouraged

    · Applicants should be recommended by APFNet Council representative or contact person from their economy* of citizenship (please see the Council list for contact information)

Call for application of 2020 APFNet Ph.D. Scholarship Program
Launched in 2010, APFNet Scholarship Program (ASP) aims to support capable forestry officials and researchers in the Asia-Pacific region to pursue higher academic degrees in the field of sustainable forest management and rehabilitation.
To better satisfy the demands of APFNet member economies in higher level forestry education, ASP will also provide opportunities for students from developing APFNet member economies to undertake Ph.D. study at three host universities in China. The study and research opportunities provided by APFNet Ph.D. scholarships will help to develop the skills and knowledge of individuals to drive change and contribute to development in their own economies.

Who can apply

    · Applicants should pass the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) Level Ⅲ when graduate

    · Age:18 - 45, and in good health condition

    · Have obtained a Master’s degree or an equivalent degree from an accredited higher education institute in forestry or related field

    · Work experience (at least 2 years) are prioritized

    · Results of an English language proficiency examination should be included in the application (e.g. An overall IELTS score of 6.0 or TOEFL score of 80. All other evidence is considered on a case by case basis)

    · Applicants should be recommended by APFNet Council representative or contact person from their economy* of citizenship (please see the Council listfor contact information)

    · Applicants should fulfill the application requirements of the host universities
